Parks In Westfield NJ
Brightwood Park is a 44 acre park with an entrance on Prospect Street & Madison Avenue in Westfield. It features a pond with dam, picnic areas and nature trails. This park is great for walks and jogs, especially nature walks. The fall season is the best time to snap some photos of the changing leaves and views of where the trees meet the water. Another serene place to jog is Clark Memorial Park located on the corner of Clark Street and West Dudley Avenue. It’s a 9.5 acre park that features memorial trees, gardens, a jogging path and a gazebo.
Places To Play Sports
Elm Street Field
If you’re just looking to get in a few games of tennis, they head to Elm Street Field. It’s located on Elm Street and holds 4 tennis courts. There’s also Sycamore Field which is also a small field suited for soccer and lacrosse. In addition these, there’s also Gumpert Field, an 8.3 acre park on South Chestnut Street. It includes 4 basketball courts with lights, 3 little league fields, a children’s playground, a jogging path, and rest rooms available for use.

Mindowaskin Park is a 12.6 acre park located off of East Broad Street. It is home to a children’s play area, a gazebo, a pond, memorial trees, gardens and a scenic overlook. In the winter, there is ice skating, and in nicer weather, a bandstand. The park has been revitalized by the Friends of Mindowaskin Park, a nonprofit organization founded in the early 1990’s.
Tamaques Park is a 106 acre park off of Lamberts Mill Road. Residents can never be bored at this park! It’s the place to go when residents have large group activities. It features 18 picnic areas, 2 Basketball Courts, 8 lighted Tennis Courts, 6 Shuffleboard Courts, 4 softball fields, 2 baseball fields, and 2 handball courts. There’s also 2 playground areas, a pond, and ice skating. Lastely, there’s a 0.8 mile jogging path and two service buildings with restrooms for patrons.
Memorial Pool Park Complex
Last but not least, Memorial Pool Park Complex is a 19.1 acre park/pool complex on Scotch Plains Avenue. It features 4 Softball Fields, 2 Basketball Courts, 2 Soccer Fields, 1 Handball Court, 6 Tennis Courts, and play areas for children. It’s the home of the town’s pool facilities, which include a diving pool, lap pool kiddy pools, a 50-meter pool and water slides.
On any given day, you can’t really use the excuse that you’re bored. Lace up your sneakers and head to one of the many parks or fields that Westfield has to offer.
